Warnings & Tips
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY TO AVOID INJURY
Most Common Uses: Handling fire logs in campfires, bon fires, fireplaces, wood burning stove, baking, grilling, cooking or working with dry heat applications. These gloves are not waterproof and you should not handle hot wet foods or hot wet liquids ever.
Feeling Warmth is Normal: Your BlueFire Gloves are built from a breathable Aramid/Nomex mesh designed to allow warmth through the material so you can gauge or predict how long you can hold on. At lower temperature, (300° to 500°F) you may not feel any warmth and you can hold for as long as you want. However at higher temperatures, (600° to 1000°F) your BlueFire Gloves are specifically designed to allow warmth to be detected by the user. This is the same technology that Fire Fighters use to gauge how hot something is and how long they can hold on to it. If you feel warmth, don't panic, you'll have time to put the hot item down before you feel any “burning” sensation.
Hot Metal VS Hot Wood: Woodfire logs can only get so hot but red hot metal (which exceeds 932°F) should be avoided. We strongly discourage handling hot metal with temperatures that cannot be measured or gauged. In your oven or grill there are certain metal parts that can be hotter than what the temperature gauge is reading (ambient heat VS touch). When handling extreme heat without a temperature gauge, just use “quick grabs” until you know what you’re dealing with. DO NOT HANDLE HOT METAL THAT HAS BEEN LEFT IN A FIRE. DO NOT TOUCH MOLTEN METAL OR RED HOT METAL.
Orange Burn Marks on the Gloves are Normal: It’s normal to see orange colored burn marks on your gloves. If you look closely at the burn marks you’ll notice that the color has burned out but the Aramid/Nomex fibers are intact and the heat rating is not diminished.
Use a Light Touch: The lighter your grip, the more heat resistance they offer. Avoid squeezing down on something or trying to lift something heavy, you will diminish the heat resistance rating by pushing through the material and bringing the heat closer to your skin. Only use enough grip to safely handle the job but don’t use excessive force in anyway when handling extreme heat. Use a light grip!
The Larger Size is Intentional: We intentionally make our gloves BIG! Think of an oven mitt. If things get too hot, you want to take your gloves off quickly for speed and safety. The gloves are intentionally big but the silicone grip and dexterity allows you to safely keep a good grip while working. If you have larger hands, feel free to loosen them and stretch them to your desired size. You won’t damage them, they are tough and stretchy! When removing the gloves always pull the finger tips first for easy removal.
Level 3 Cut Resistance: BlueFire Gloves are level 3 cut resistant! This means you can drag the blade of a knife across the fibers without damaging the gloves or cutting yourself. NOTE*** Please keep in mind that this does not mean they are puncture proof. Be extra careful when handling skewers or knife points to avoid a puncture.
